Blueberries are ranked as having one of the highest antioxidant capacities among all fruit. Antioxidants are essential to your health to combat free radicals that can damage cellular structures as well as DNA.
Blueberries have a lower sugar content than most fruits and have been found to be very beneficial for your nervous system and brain health. A study was done of older adults who had a daily blueberry consumption over 12 week time frame was enough to improve scores on two different tests of cognitive function including memory. Researchers were encouraged by these results and suggest blueberries might turn out to be not only beneficial for the improvement of memory but for the slowing down or postponing the onset of other cognitive problems frequently associated with aging.
Now who wouldn’t want that!!!
